Artist from the Sardinian origins, but with a great love for our region, particularly become attached to Vasto, where he creates, realizes and teaches. Paolo Dongu opens with his personal art show "Lo strano cammino" the third edition of the exhibition " IncontrARTI al borgo" that it will give near the Marchesani courtyard in via Santa Maria in Vasto from the 22 to the 28 July 2004, with following timetable 18,30 - 24,00. The inspiration of this spiritual way is born from the reading of a book of Paulo Coelho (The Pilgrimage) and from a successive travel of Dongu in the places of the pilgrimage that the artist travels over again (the desperation, the shame, desire of a family, the defeat of a disease, things that today they push to us to ask aid, as well as the demand for a greater inner tranquillity). The realization of the works on wood multilayer comes executed with oil techniques. From always Dongu it is characterized for the use of warm inks with prevalence of lands and ochres. Show of figurative art “Arte Insieme”. A painting that of Dongu, that it is born from an encounter between thought and instinct, between meditation moments on the past and moments of observation of the world that surround us. For this artist the painting is escape, spell, necessities to escape from the banal to imprint on the canvas dreams, memories, regrets, and, why not, aesthetic values that are disappearing.
Paul Dongu lives and works in San Salvo. The encounter with painting for him it was at the age of twenty and is quickly passion. Passion that will carry him to a continuous search in the techniques and the arts of the past, from which he will adopt like pictorial means the oil. The topics of the works are fruit of discover again, in particular of smaller gestural expressiveness. Exactly these gestures, these works, are the print of his art, in which the monochromacity of the background exalts, with the polychromy of the subject, the only being… the man. International Contemporary Art Show City of San Salvo. Paul Dongu lives and works in San Salvo. He approaches the oil painting thanks to the fortuitous encounter, during the military service, with an his contemporary. Then begins a period of continuous study, till to land to the techniques that today mark him. He uses rigid supports on which spreads a mixture elaborated by him, till having a smooth and flowing surface, where the oil color is applied with successive sails. The subjects are fruit of continuous and elaborated search, the photographic aid is for him what the note-book of the sketches was for the artists of the past.
